Learn everything from essential words and phrases, to the ability to hold advanced conversations with Instant Immersion Italian. This program has a plethora of features—such as an audio language course and an interactive mystery game—all of which are designed to provide a thorough base for your Italian language education.
While it may seem that Instant Immersion should have been first because of these great features, Instant Immersion doesn’t have two of the most important features available with our top rated products: online testing and online chat with native speakers.
Another problem that kept Instant Immersion from the top is their customer/technical support. TOPICS Entertainment, Instant Immersion’s manufacturer and sole provider of technical support, has one of the worst systems for answering questions and getting technical help; however we do not anticipate you’ll need their help because the software is pretty reliable.
We were, however, extremely pleased with how customizable Instant Immersion is. We were able to try a variety of features, ranging from flash cards to game show style activities, all of which allow you to choose the learning style that works best for you. Instant Immersion also does a great job of providing audio help to ensure you are pronouncing words correctly. With the exception of a few small drawbacks, this is a great Learn Italian Software.
Instant Immersion was designed to meet the needs of all learning styles. Unlike some other language learning programs, Instant Immersion does not confine you to a single line of activities. Each lesson comes with multiple options, allowing you to choose what you want to learn next.
Instant Immersion also offers three bonus discs. The first, I-DVD, is an interactive game to be played using your TV so that multiple people can participate at once. The second bonus disc is an audio CD which allows you to easily transfer the language learning software to your iPod or MP3 player. And finally, Instant Immersion offers a computer game bonus disc. The game, Who is Oscar Lake? is a mystery which can only be solved through answering and inquiring in Italian.
This program also has one of the best progress tracking features of any Learn Italian program. It’s easy to see scores for individual exercises and identify where you are weakest. However, we were extremely disappointed that Instant Immersion did not offer online testing and online chat with a native speaker like our top rated product.
Instant Immersion does a great job of tackling the basics of the Italian language. Its many activities and workshops are designed to improve pronunciation, grammar rules and vocabulary retention. Instant Immersion comes in a nine disc set, packed with a variety of lessons, games and teaching methods. The program is broken down into three levels, two disks per level.
The first level covers the basics. You’ll learn your first words all over again, discover how to say your favorite foods, and understand the basics of vocabulary, all in Italian. We were very impressed with the amount of material Instant Immersion covers in this section, especially in the area of Italian vocabulary.
The second level teaches a variety of phrases for multiple situations, including: shopping, dining, emergencies, business, and more. This level also allows you to listen to, and participate in dialogue between Italian speakers. The third level delves deeper into the fundamentals of Italian, and requires you to navigate through the program using only Italian.
The only jab we’ll give Instant Immersion in this category is that it lacked deep explanations of sentence structure and conjugation. So you’ll learn plenty of phrases, but you may not understand the basics of how they’re made.
