Fundamentals:  

This software has limited features, but what areas it covers, it so does well. The main purpose of this program is to build your vocabulary and help you retain the words you learn.

The program has four segments; Recognize It, Know It, Produce It, and Own It. These segments work together to help you to hear and see Italian translations and then produce them in written form.

Italian Before You Know it begins with simple words and then moves on to useful phrases. It also incorporates multiple choice selections into parts of the lessons, presenting you with four possible solutions, from which you must then choose the correct.

The most difficult aspect is the program requires you to type the Italian translation of words or phrases after you hear a native speaker tell you the word. As you complete each word list, the software tracks your progress and ranks your skill so that you will be motivated to top your score by broadening your vocabulary.

The deluxe version of French Before You Know It has speech recognition software included in it. The software does good job at recording your voice and playing it back, however we found that it lack accuracy when it evaluated our pronunciation.

Ease of Use:  

We had no problems during the installation of Italian Before You Know it.

Teaching Tools:  

The help and documentation Transparent provided for Italian Before You Know it is excellent. You can get online and read through FAQs, obtain updates or fill out a technical support request form or you can take advantage of the company's email support. There is also a toll-free telephone support number available if want to talk directly to the support staff.

Word Tools:  

Italian Before You Know It covers only a few of the fundamentals of language acquisition, but the program is an excellent tool for increasing vocabulary and learning the correct pronunciation of Italian words.

Tech Support:  

If acquiring fluency in the Italian language is your goal, this product alone is not the best choice. However, this is a great supplemental program to help you build an Italian Language base of Vocabulary.

Italian Before You Know It is a fine flash card program designed to increase vocabulary and pronunciation, but that's all it is.
